Tools of the Trade

Luckily crocheting doesn't require a lot of tools to get started. Some basic things you might want to get for yourself when starting out is:

1. variety set of crochet hooks, something along the lines of this:

2: a stitch marker ( I use a safety pin for this)

3. a yarn needle

4.  your favorite color yarn. Yarn comes in different sizes and weights and you will need to choose a yarn size or weight that is appropriate for the project you will be completing. For crocheting baby hats and booties and I frequently use worsted weighted or size 4 yarn.   I will explain more about yarn weights in another post.

5. A pattern that you want to use to for your project

there are many things on the market you can get and use for crocheting but I have found these basic items are a great place to start.

Learning to Crochet

I love to crochet and have had some friends ask me to teach them how to crochet. I thought I would try starting a blog to share all that I have learned in learning to art and craft of crocheting. The internet is such a wonderful tool to learn new things and hope this blog can be useful to others to learn how to crochet for themselves.  Check back often as I will keep updating as I go along and learn new things!
